The goal of the Department of Preventive Medicine is to provide useful evidences for the prevention of cancer and chronic diseases using classical epidemiologic methods and/or the application of molecular and genetic methods. Current research in our group includes the role of viruses in the etiology of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the connection between alcohol and risk of HCC, the genetic factors on the development of HCC, the role of physical activity in promoting health and preventing chronic disease, the effects of exercise on skeletal muscle capillary, the regulation of glucose transport in skeletal muscle, and the efficacy of influenza vaccination in the elderly.
